09/02/2010
The Jakarta Globe has carried out the following assessment and information over the subject of Bali's rapidly decreasing charms on its standing as a world tourism destination. The assessment was release by the Jakarta Globe, and written by Todd Elliot, who is a Jakarta based analyst with the Concord Consulting Group.
Since after that fatal incident evolving terrorist attacks in Bali from year 2002 and 2005, the province of Jakarta has fully withdrawn to its luster, and has made itself as one of the country in SouthEast Asia to be the top choice of the terrorists. With this, most of the investors and the business sectors are having second thoughts on giving it a go in Bali or in some place in Jakarta.
The movie Eat, Pray, Love that stars Hollywood actress Julia Roberts, which was filmed mostly in Bali, was expected to raise Bali's international profile as a tourist destination and even encourage more foreign tourist in the Island. But it has becoming less and less popular these days. Most of the tour packages involving touring freebies in the Island were also now being promoted by the Ministry of consulate and Tourism in Indonesia. But still, the increased of community tensions surround the province has made it a little difficult for the Balinese to recover, financially speaking.
According to the statistics released by the Central Statistics Agency, about 1.17 million foreign tourists arrived in Bali for the first half of the year, and a 9.52 percent increase from the 1. 07 million in the same period last year.
Some of the reasons involving the decrease of the tourists visits in Bali are the booming effects of Crime related situation. There has been several criminal cases including rape, murder and drug related cases for foreign tourist are the things that scares them the most. Meanwhile, pollution is also something that is now highly affecting the tourism department. The deteriorating cleanliness of the beaches and the resorts, affects mostly the groundwater supplies and some other development that contribute to the high cost of pollution in the province.
Looking ahead, Bali is set to raise its profile higher still by playing host to a number of major events, including the 2013 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and the 2014 Miss World pageant.
