Bali Theatre and Bali Safari Marine Park presents Bali Agung

“Bali Agung" was created and produced by an internationally acclaimed theatrical team. Spearheaded by director, Peter J. Wilson combined with the prowess of the production designers, composers and director, they are now busy doing rehearsals for the 150 strong cast that will enact the tragic love story of three of Bali's most historically revered figures. Wilson's passion for Bali's awesome culture started with his collaboration with ‘I Made Sidia', a puppet artists; Sidia's puppet mastery will be put into action during the production.
With the collaboration also of the award winning production designer Richard Jeziorny whose expertise on full range stage productions including puppets, musicals, comedy to grand opera, this project will be a showcase to wait. In addition, acclaimed composer Chong Lim, for musical scores and choreographer Ian Knowles, whose works from Colours of Malaysia has also earned him recognition.
"They are an incredible talented group of individuals whose combined skills are blending together to present a show that people will be talking about for years to come," Peter said.
The Bali Agung project will be held in one of the world's largest performance stage, measuring about 80 x 40 meters in front of the sets, that is equally matched with the behind set spaces. There will be a need for some extraordinary lists of animals to include in the production as well, including elephants, camel, eagles, and tigers, to make it appear more realistic and magical.
‘Bali Agung' is derived from the historic and legendary accounts of Sri Jaya Pangus, King of the unassailable Balingkang during the 12th Century. The Balinese Kingdom together with his Chinese wife, Kang Ching Wie, it is opt to reminisce some portion of the history that was based upon their tragic and heroic thus epic story.
"Our vision is to create a story of epic proportions that captures the essence of Bali, while at the same time demonstrating our commitment to the conservation of wildlife and culture", the Executive director of the Bali safari and Marine Park, Hans Manansang.
