The restore of village cooperatives

In recent news that has been released in Bali Island stated the latest report regarding their village cooperatives. According to the news the people in Bali are looking to further revive its village unit cooperatives, which have become the island’s major economic drivers.
From the statement released by head of Cooperatives and Small Scale Businesses, Dewa Patra said that, prior to the commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of the Indonesian cooperatives, that Bali has around 3,457, or 93.7 percent, of Bali’s 3,689 cooperatives were ”healthy”. In which approximately 70 percent of the full amount are registered as qualified cooperatives. The once a year growth of cooperatives has been encouraging at five percent a year.
Bali cooperatives have around Rp 3.2 trillion in assets, employ 14,155 workers and have almost 860,000 members. They added that the rural area will definitely acts as one of the most important in this restoration as they are the one who will need to develop their local economy.
”We are optimistic to develop Bali as a cooperative province earlier than its targeted year in 2012,” Patra said.
