Bali To Race V8 Supercars In The Next Few Years
08/22/2012

Bali, the island of the gods that continues to be a top tourist destination for its numerous Bali villas, sites and activities, sports and temples, continues to amaze tourists and locals.

No longer will it just cater to beach and water activities for its tourists. But as a new racing circuit is to be completed by 2014 in Denpasar, the Daily Telegraph reveals that the governing body of sports was recently approached by a Bali consortium last month. The point? They want Bali V8 supercars to make headlines as it will be a major act on the said circuit.

bali will host v8 supercars race

"The category has met with representatives from the proposed circuit. They are building a track, which is about an hour away from Denpasar. They are looking at a large investment and have targeted V8 Supercars to be one of two major global racing categories to put the track on the map. Obviously V8s are very appealing as Australians are very important to their tourism market," said the source.

This project, the construction of a category two race circuit, is part of the government's effort to expose Bali all the more as a top tourist destination. The construction of the circuit is done with a Singapore investment group. The idea of the project is based on the growing popularity of V8 supercars and that putting up a V8 supercar race in Bali will definitely be another reason for tourists to come see the island.

These Bali V8 supercars are now expanding internationally after it had been given an international license last year by FIA.

There are already races in Abu Dhabi by the Ford vs Holden category. By next year, this will be joined by Nissan and there will also be a push towards the North American region as a race in Austin, Texas will be held.
