International Kite Festival Will Feature Bali Island And Dragons

The Bali International Kite Festival, also called Lomba Layang-Layang International Bali, will kick off this weekend at the World Kite Museum. Kits flying teams of 12 people and more will be flying their kites that are no less than 3 meters wide.

And since bats are an important character in Bali, the Paper Eclipse Puppet Company will be presenting "Bats! Myth and Reality" during the festival. They will be using shadow puppets to present the truth about these mammals.

Another presentation still on bats is a short film that features children who were able to catch bats the size of geese with their kites. These will be shown at 11 in the morning, 1:30, and 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday.

Other activities in Bali include presenting sounds and pictures of gamelan orchestras. There will also be a display of batik fabric, making of masks, and the making of the kites.
