Australian Chefs Opens Bali For More Delicious Cuisines
01/17/2012

Bali, the famed island of the gods, is not only famous for its luxurious Bali villas. It is also known for its delectable Bali food and Bali delicacies. And now, as Simon Blaby, a Thai cuisine specialist, has been appointed as executive chef of Semara Resort and Spa Seminyak, guests will even be looking forward to more savory food and dishes.

Blaby takes pride in his track record which includes working at the Spirit house at Yandina which is located in the Sunshine Coast. Also, he was the executive chef of La Lucciola in Seminyak which also happens to be among the best in Seminyak.

Simon Blaby developed his passion for Thai cuisines when he was still connected with the Spirit House. His many dishes have, in fact, made it to the American Express Hall of Fame. Everyone is encouraged to experience Blaby's unique dishes every Tuesdays at 6 in the evening at Georgies Pool Bar and Restaurant. This is the Semara Resort and Spa Seminyak Thai buffet nights.

An Australian chef is also making waves in Bali for her sumptuous dishes. Kath Townsend, a Sydneysider, has been the executive chef of Ubud Resort Maya for over two years now.

''This season has been insane … and my first one was a record for Bali, despite the global financial crisis in Australia. 'The high season used to start at the end of June; now it starts at the beginning, even in Ubud, and we're supposed to be the village, boutique area," said Townsend.

According to Townsend, the influx of Australian chefs to Bali is greatly increasing to the point that there are already more chefs than there are surfers in the areas like Ubud, Legian, and Seminyak.

Now, Bali travel is no longer just for seeing the beautiful scenery of Bali but also for its food and Bali restaurants.
