With the country’s profile of GHG emissions showing a significant trend, and though the country is not included in the group of Annex 1 countries that are required to reduce GHG emissions according to Kyoto Protocol, Indonesia has committed itself to contribute in overcoming the problems of climate change.

The Government of Indonesia, committed to achieve GHG emission reduction, had taken steps to identify the sectors and activities that have the potential to contribute to emission reductions which officially have been formalized in the form of Presidential Regulation regarding the National Action Plan for Reducing Emissions.

Bali, as part of Indonesia, has actively participated in the programs implanted by the Indonesian government to reduce GHG emission like the Program Tree Planting 1 Billion to the World ( Indonesia 1 billion tress to the world) which Bali’s local government has actively supported. Bali has also taken steps to preserve its natural environment as Bali is one of the best tourist destinations in the world. Bali Green Province, a program initiated by the government, is a way for Bali to conserve its natural resources.
